TouchDesigner interactive art - Sound exploration of everyday life

Concept :
Interactive installation created using TouchDesigner, featuring a 3D room where each object reacts to the mouse and reveals its sound identity. The window plays birdsong, the bed emits the sound of an alarm clock, the floor reacts with footsteps, and the desk produces the sound of computer keys. The floor slowly follows the mouse's trajectory, creating a floating effect as if the environment were accompanying the user in their discovery.

Objective :
Explore the relationship between our daily lives and our sensory perception by transforming an ordinary space into a living soundscape. Make the invisible perceptible and, through interactive exploration, create a sense of breathing space between humans and space. Restore a sensible presence to the mundane elements of our domestic environment.

Technique :
  • 3D environment created in TouchDesigner, navigable with mouse movement
  • Detection system and audible alert when hovering over interactive areas (3D objects)
  • Procedural animation of the ground following the mouse's trajectory for a floating effect
  • Built-in audio library associating contextual sounds with objects (birds, alarm clock, footsteps, keyboard)
  • Audio-visual mapping synchronizing sound and visual reactions in real time
  • Installation gradually revealing the “hidden life” of objects through interaction
