Interactive data visualization - The evolution of horror cinema



Concept :
Interactive data visualization interface transforming raw data on horror movie viewing rates in theaters by age group from 1920 to 2020. The project makes a century of evolution in the horror genre tangible and visual, revealing generational trends and sociocultural changes through movie consumption.


Objective :
Make a complex cultural phenomenon visible by facilitating understanding  of viewer behavior over 100 years. Reveal trends, 
peaks in popularity, and correlations between eras, age groups, and 
types of horror films. Provide quick access to essential data while offering an interactive and visually engaging exploration.


Technique :
  • Dataset collected: horror movie viewing rates 1920-2020, segmented by age group
  • Interactive interface enabling temporal navigation and filtering by demographics
  • Graphical visualizations (trend lines, comparative diagrams, timelines)
  • Design consistent with the horror theme 
  • Progressive exploration system revealing data on click
  • Creative formatting that transforms abstract statistics into understandable visual storytelling
